One of the largest anime EC sites has a physical store in Akihabara
amiami is the name of Japan's largest hobby online store.
While it initially started with online sales only, since 2016, it has ventured into the "physical store" market. Although it also deals with general toys, books, DVDs, etc., its main focus lies in figures, collectibles, and anime products, making it a prominent anime merchandise shop.
This store is operated as an ami ami physical store.
The most prominent feature of this store is the approximately 11-meter-long showcase that stretches through the center of the store, displaying figures from various manufacturers.
While amiami also conducts online sales to overseas customers, having a physical store provides a sense of reassurance.
Now, let's delve into the details about this store.
Location:
Located on the 4th floor of Radio Kaikan, right in front of Akihabara Station.
Upon taking the escalator, you'll be greeted by large figures from MHA and Demon Slayer.
The clientele is mostly tourists.
Operating hours: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Who should go there?
People looking to purchase figures or models.

Shop Size: ★★★★★
The entire 4th floor is dedicated to the amiami shop, making it very spacious.
Compared to the K BOOKS on the 3rd floor, the aisles are wider, so it's not as stressful.
However, Radio Kaikan attracts many tourists, so the store is always crowded, which can be challenging when carrying large items.
Number of Items: ★★★★★
There's a wide variety of products available.
Since amiami deals with new items, many newly released products are displayed.
Additionally, pre-release figures are also showcased.
It's great to see what upcoming products will look like before they hit the shelves.
In addition to anime goods, there are also models, Gunpla, and American comic book products on display.
Moreover, there's a wide variety of Ghibli goods.
Those interested in Ghibli's paper crafts or puzzles should definitely check them out.
Crowdedness: ★★★☆☆
While there are many people, the aisles are not too narrow, so it's not overly stressful.
However, the area in front of the figure display corner tends to get crowded as many people take photos there.
Rare Items: ★★☆☆☆
Since they deal with new items, there aren't as many rare items.
However, in other company stores, there may be abundant stock of sold-out figures.
Additionally, sometimes sold-out items are restocked on the amiami website, so you might get lucky.
Uniqueness: ★★★★☆
While there aren't many unique products, the figure displays are particularly impressive.
During my visit, figures of Fubuki and Tatsumaki from One Punch Man were showcased, and they were of exceptionally high quality.
The figure display corner is a must-visit.
One Punch Man Tatsumaki & Fubuki 1/7 scale figure
This is a limited edition item scheduled for release in August 2024.
The costumes and poses accentuate the body lines beautifully.
Using clear parts for coloring, it faithfully reproduces the imagery from the series, paying attention to even the smallest details like wrinkles on the boots and accessories.
The price is 24,750 yen each.
However, upon seeing the actual figures, you'll realize they are worth more than their price tag suggests.
