Jujutsu Kaisen【ch.246】Full-page explanation

Ch.246 was really exciting for me.

Higuruma’s Domain finished and VS. Sukuna battle gets more intense.

We have a lot to talk about in this chapter, but let’s talk about the color art poster in this week’s WSJ.

In this poster, Yuji, Yuta, Maki and everyone joining Sukuna battle are drawn.

It says “Ryomen Sukuna Raid in Makyo Shonjuku”.

So it means that Yuta and Maki will also join the battle with Sukuna. Yuta and Maki also had some plan to get Megumi back, so they are gonna do something. The key is the timing when they will show up. After the Higuruma vs Sukuna battle? or more later?

① Higuruma realizes his weakness

The moment Higuruma realized that Confiscation had been applied to Sukuna’s Cursed Tool, he immediately understood that it was due to his inexperience. The fact that he can immediately understand the cause of the problem means that he is so talented.



② Comment from the editor

“なお健在する宿儺の術式!! 高専側、大ピンチ!?”

In English, “Sukuna’s Technique is still alive!! Jujutsu High side is in big trouble!?”

This is the comment from the editor.

① How did they improve their CE reinforcement technique?

Sukuna realizes that everyone’s Cursed Energy reinforcement techniques have drastically improved. But how did they do that?

When I posted about this on Twitter, I got some opinions about this.


Comments on this seem to suggest 3 possibilities.

Gojo’s training
Utahime’s technique
Binding vow
Let’s consider them one by one.

Gojo’s training
When Gojo was unsealed and went to fight with Sukuna and Kenjaku, he said he needed some time to prepare something. I think this is to train Yuji and others.

Gojo’s dream was to get strong and intelligent allies to change the Jujutsu world, and that’s why he became a teacher in Jujutsu High.

He had to fight with Sukuna, so he must have told them everything he could teach by then.

Or he had special training with others. And that made Yuji and all improve their Cursed Energy reinforcement techniques.

Some people said Gojo can’t teach anything, but I don’t think so.



Utahime’s technique
Utahime’s technique temporarily amplifies the cursed energy of any willing sorcerer within range. But what Sukuna mentioned is “Cursed Energy reinforcement techniques”, so it’s different. Moreover, Uraume needs to be around to use her technique. The range is not revealed, but it should be 10 to 20m or so. She will not survive on the harsh battlefield against Sukuna.



Binding vow
Or they made a Binding Vow to themselves. I have no idea what kind of Binding vow it is, but it is possible that they have strengthened themselves by this. Various Binding Vows were used in the battle between Gojo and Sukuna, so this is likely to be one of them.



② Sukuna’s open technique

Finally Kusakabe mentions Sukuna’s Fuga(Open) technique. Kusakabe also realizes that Sukuna is not using a flame arrow on purpose.

But the fact that this was mentioned here means that Sukuna will probably be using Fuga soon. This statement by Kusakabe may be foreshadowed later. Probably used when Sukuna is in a pinch.

① The best way

Kusakabe says “Finishing things with that sword is the easiest way to wrap this up”.

Saying “Easiest way” means there’s another way to solve the problem, right? Looking back at previous chapters, Yuji and Yuta had come up with a way to help Megumi out. So there must be more than one way.



② かけっこ(Kakekko)

Sukuna says “Wanna race, you brat?” in English, but Japanese ver. is a bit different.

In Japanese, Sukuna says “かけっこ(Kakekko)”.

This means to run and compete to see who is faster, but it is used as a children’s play. So Sukuna is seeing them as kids. I can see from these words that Sukuna completely looks down on Yuji and the others.

① Choso is stubbed

Sukuna dodged Choso’s Piercing blood and pierced Choso’s belly with his hand. Now Choso is seriously injured and he can’t use the Reverse Cursed technique by himself. So he needs someone to heal him, who can be Yuta or Shoko so far. But I don’t think Shoko can come here to heal him, so it should be Yuta.



② Ino uses Nanami’s Cursed Tool

Surprisingly Ino is using Nanami’s Cursed Tool here.

This is actually foreshadowed before.

Gege Sensei added Nanami’s left hand and his Cursed Tool on comic book ver. And anime also shows that. This is the foreshadowing that Ino will use the Cursed Tool he left.

Also, according to the Extra page in the Jujutsu Kaisen comic, Ino really respects Nanami after accompanying him on a mission. And he hopes that he’ll get Nanami’s watch as a hand-me-down one day.

But what he left is not a watch, but his Cursed Tool… This is such a sad fact…

① Nanami’s Technique is enchanted on the Cursed Tool

Why did this happen?

A hint is on the official Fanbook.


According to the official fan book, there are two types of Cursed Tool.

Those that were used by a sorcerer and turned into a cursed tool.
Those that were originally said to be cursed
Nanami has been using this Cursed Tool for a long time, so it became a Cursed Tool I guess. Then after Nanami’s death, his technique had been enchanted on it…?
